How do you become an extra on tv/film?

I want to become a extra how do i become one?

  • Answer:

You often have to sign up to a casting company or website to find out information for castings, but with you being under 16, this makes it more difficult. You would have to have parental permission, of course, and as many programmes are filmed during the day, it may mean missing out on school time, but if it's something you're passionate about, your school may support you. A friend of mine got quite a few 'extra' roles, but she was enrolled in a musical theatre school at weekends who would put her forward. Another friend of mine has an agent. Another way would be to look on sites like Facebook to see if there are any casting companies (for example, castingnow.co.uk, but you have to be 16+ to join that one) who have pages on there, with links to their main site. Many ask for a fee to join though. Hugely important - although I'm sure you'll already know this - if you do find a company to sign up with, NEVER send your photo or give any personal details (like your address or phone number, for example) online, without your parents' permission. You must check them out properly first, especially because you are young. Good luck!

Well...you can go on an acting cite and find a type of movie you want to be in. Then they will tell you what and where to send information to. Although you might not get paid as an extra...sorry. Hope this helps
