What do acting agencies look for in a cover letter?

  • So i'm in the midst of writing my cover letter for my resume to send out to different agencies and i wanted to know what franchised agents are looking for and what are they impressed by in a cover letter? lets say if someone doesn't have any film or tv credits but their cover letter shows strong enthusiasm, determination, and commitment will that steer their descision from absolutely not to maybe or yes? Basically- what do agencies like Generation, Innovation, Fresh Faces, Abrams Artists, William Morris Entertainment, Carson-Adler, etc look for and are impressed by in applicants cover letters? can a cover letter really make it or break it or are they not that important?

    I'd say its totally worth it to make your cover letter look nice, but make sure that you don't talk about what you haven't done, focus on what you have done. If you aren't going into film acting, don't worry about not having film experience.

I'd start at Abrams. They are probably the least fussy when it comes to selecting talent.

Places like William Morris wont accept you without any film experience. They take actors who have already been in multi million dollar feature films. Maybe you should start a bit smaller.
