What are good colleges for a musical theater major?

Colleges with musical theater major/minor?

  • I'm interested in continuing musical theater in college. If I were to do a major, I would want to double major, so I could also focus on something more...realistic. Another option would be to minor in musical theater with a major in whatever else, but so little colleges have a MT minor program. Can someone give me some colleges that have either of these options? New England area or CA preferred, but give me whatever you got! I already some on my list, hopefully someone can help me out!

    Columbia College in Chicago is a wonderful college for theatre. DePaul is another with one of the few (and maybe only) conservatories in the country. Northwestern and Loyola are also great choices for double majors. I know it's Midwest, but we've got a lot to offer!

UNC Greeley, CO, is one. There are plenty.You will be surprised how many schools have MT majors. Check the SUNY campuses. Check UNC Greensboro. Most such majors are so intense that a double major could add a year to your schooling. And they are hard work for someone who is not going to be a professional. MT minors are unheard of. Too complex. What about a music minor and a Theatre Major at a state college where you live? I feel The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor would be willing to work with you on a degree plan. Together you might figure it out. Sorry it is not in the New England area or CA but it is between them. With a beautiful campus and great people.
