What is a one-act play in theater?

I want to audition for my school play, but i am not in theater and havent read the play?

• It is a play called The curious savage, and i really want to get invovlved in theater. But everyone has already read the play, should i maybe just drop this and try some community theater instead?? i also dont have much experience and i dont want to make a fool of myself.

  You can't let that stop you! Although you're first couple of shows are quite intimidating... Everyone has to start somewhere! If everyone was afraid to take the initial leap and step outside their comfort zone a bit there'd be no theatre department whatsoever! My advice to you though is to read the play before the audition because this gives you an advantage because of your knowledge of the play. I'd definitely get involved with your schools theatre program AND the community theatre, the more experience, the better! Good luck and break a leg(;
