How do I begin a career in theatre?

How do I began an acting career if I've only taken one theatre class in high school?

• I have only taken one theatre arts class in high school. However, I want to begin a career in film NOT theatre. I know I can put down my theatre class on my resume. That would be the only thing on my resume though. 1.) Could I take a film class or just a general acting class in Chicago that I could put on my resume(instead of plays)? 2.) When do I start looking for an agent? 3.) How do I find an agent? 4.) Any other tips/advice would be great!

  1) You can take a film class. But not instead of experience. Anyone can just take a class, but that doesn't say that you can actually act. They want to see experience.
