How can i become an actress?

  • It has been my lifelong dream to become an actress. I am 12 years old and i want to know the steps to becoming an actress. And please don't tell me something like "Oh just never give up" and stuff like that -__- ... i've heard some stuff about getting an agent but how do i get one?? i live in NY so how can i audition for a role?? or do i first need to take classes?? everyone tells me that i am a REALLY great actress, mostly because im in a lot of plays and stuff.. so please help me out !! thanks :)

    It's my dream to become an actress as well, and I'm well on my way. The first thing is: * You don't need to take classes to be a good actress, at all. * You don't need to go to a performing arts school (like me), to be great. * You need a parent to help you. * You will need to work DAY AND NIGHT to perfect your technique. * Don't develop an ego. * You don't need to put down others advice to NEVER GIVE UP. That goes along with ego. * You have to look through the papers, online, and just around your city for an agent. They don't just pop up wherever and whenever you want them to. * You have to have quite a bit of time and money. * Just because your in a lot of plays doesn't make you a great actress. I know some of those might seem harsh, but this business is tough. Trust me, I know. But just because people tell you that you're great, doesn't mean that you are. But you have to have a strong head on your shoulders and you should be a little hard-headed, so people don't walk all over you.

1-start with taking up regular acting classes. 2-participate in auditions, and plays at your school. 3-tape some of the shows of your performances to keep as your videos 4-look for an agent, or agency to work with, or go try out for auditions for shows. (even starting out as an extra is a beginning for most actors and actresses, so get whatever work you can)

first you can go to auditions at cities like Ny & los angeles , audition at your your school or local plays and films, then get as much experience as possible and then built a resume then get an agent to help you land roles in movies, tv and commercials.

first, you need a parent that will actively do this with you and support you in it. you can't do this yourself. you need some initial acting classes to to learn how to work in front of a camera and how to get through an audition. no use looking for auditions until you know how to do one. classes are also good to get a professional opinion on just how much talent you do have. friends and family are not always a good source of info. they might lie to not hurt your feelings. agents only get paid if you work, they won't waste time on you unless you have training and some experience. you can look around you for local theater and student and ind. film auditions, their open calls a parent can get you on. when your ready for an agent you can look on SAG'S web site for legit agencies. you will need to find ones close to you that take people your age and that are asking for submissions for new clients. you will need to audition in person to get an agent. a parent will have to get one for you. your in the right place for this.
