What is a Good male audition monologue for Beauty and the Beast?

Monologue for audition help?

  • Is it a must that a monologue in an audition has to be the same type (like tragedy or very serious) as the type of play? I am auditioning for a part in Our Town (which is somewhat a tragedy), and am hoping that I can do a wicked witch monologue from sleeping beauty and the beast (which is a comedy) ... Also, are there any other suggestions for a good contemporary monologue?? THANKS!

  • Answer:

No, the play that you are taking your monologue from does not need to be the same type as the play yu are auditioning for. However, beware that the monologue itself has to be the same type as the part you are auditioning for. If you are trying out for a femme fatal, a monologue from Chicago would be appropriate, but if you are trying out for a very mysterious, persuasive woman, a monologue from "Macbeth" would do it. Hope it helps :)
