How do you get on broadway?

How to get more info on broadway singers and actors and how to get in tho the business of acting in musicals?

  • i really want to persue a career in acting in musicals on broadway etc. but i honestly have no idea how to even start, like i want more info about broadway etc. and what musicals are running, any advice?

  • Answer:

Do research, to be on Broadway you need to be apart of the actors equity union. So you have to do a tone off Broadway shows to get enough points to be in the actors union. I think I answered a question of yours a while ago so basically the same things I said there. I don't know how old you are but they usually wont cast people under 18 for Broadway if they don't live in nyc. Some shows on right now are: Hair, Wicked, Billy Elliot, Next to Normal, Chicago, Rock of ages,Bye bye birdie,in the heights, phantom of the opera. A lot more. Get involved with local theater, build up your resume, make connections. Why do you want to be in musicals? If you are going to do this you have to really really want it and be committed one hundred percent. My voice teacher will tell me there are tones of pretty little blonde girls, what makes you different? You have to have that something about you that sets you apart from everyone else. Again if you have any questions email me via yahoo and I will try to help. I put some sites in below with info on them. http://broadwayworld.com/shows/shows.php?page=shows http://www.actorsequity.org/

you can start with some acting classes to learn how to audition. you can look in your phone book for community theaters around you, their open calls. take singing and dance lessons. this is going to take awhile before your ready for broadway. do what ever theater around you you can and build up a good resume to take to broadway. drive by theaters and check their marquees there are notices if their casting for things, or look in one of the acting trade magazines like backstage or variety.

Wake up. At the age you are at now, if you don't know "how to even start" or "what musicals are running" you have no chance of making out. The theatre industry is a dog eat dog town... if you don't know what shows are out there you cant make it in the industry. You have to know what you are doing before you can do it.
