What does accommodations mean on school report card comments?

How to let my parents let me get this and report card help please?

  • Ok, so I am a 15 year old boy. My old computer broke 10.5 months ago, and I want another one so badly. I play games on it and I miss the fun and my friends. My birthday was Jan 18, so I currently have enough money to buy a new computer. I asked my parents if I can go buy it, and they said wait until you get your next report card ( Jan 31st ) and if it is good and I am not missing any homeworks. Like everybody, I hate homework and honestly think that I have some issue or something that I just cannot do most of it. I asked my math teacher yesterday if in the comments section of my report card if she will write anything about me missing honeworks and, being mean, said yes I am writing ' Late/Missing homework' on it. I was absent for 4 days about two weeks ago, and she didn't put up the homework on the schools website so I couldn't make it up. Please help me I want to get my computer and I also do not want to make my parents disappointed. Thank you very much everyone :). P.S. The marking period is over and i have no school until the day that I get my report card. Please help.

When I turned 16, I got married. I wasn't even pregnant; I just got married. I was still in high school. What I'm saying is, you're 15. You're not 12, so listen up! Think for yourself. How many years have people gone to school without the Internet, without having the ability to have their homework posted online? Don't you think that throughout all those hundreds of years, yes, REALLY HUNDREDS, people were STILL responsible for turning in their homework???? You sound like a whiny baby and for crying out loud, you're nearly 18!!! Grow up or live a life that sucks. Sorry, I don't mean that mean, but people come to this site expecting the truth, not some sugar-coated encouragement...or maybe that is what you came here for? You are just as smart as anyone else. Just the fact that you say you have parents who care, which comes across as seeming strict but no matter how it is interpreted, it's still a form of caring, after all, it's not ignoring, right? So... you have a bit of a support system there to help you along. But without the effort to even try, no one can help you. It's not about how smart you are, it's about how bad you want it. It's up to you, and you CAN do it. The "issue" you have regarding not being able to do homework is called "laziness". Anyone can DO homework. What grade you make is a different story, but there's no excuse for not trying, and not trying is what you are doing when you can't even turn in a paper. Your teacher was "being mean" because she wants you to succeed. Right now, you are a no-trying failure, not because you don't have it in you to succeed, but because you refuse to actually TRY. You can do it; you can succeede. What you've messed up you cannot fix. All you can do is do better. You never have to be the star or top studen. Just try. That's all you have to do. I'm sure that if your parents see you doing that, they'll be a WHOLE LOT more cooperative when it comes to giving you what you want.

If the reason you are being given the late homework comment is because you were absent from school, I'm sure your parents will understand and not hold it against you. Everyone gets ill now and again, and there wasn't much you could do about it. If you get this comment a lot, or due to laziness, then there isn't much you can do except accept their decision with good grace. If you find you are having difficulty with your homework, why not ask your teachers or parents for help? It has to be done, and it exists for a good reason. Getting comments about poor homework is going to be difficult to get over, though, because of course they know that if you have a computer, homework will take even more of a back seat. The only thing you can do is prove that you will get a better report next time.

Sounds like you're not getting a computer.
