I need advice on grocery shopping?
-
This may sound like a very ignorant question, due to how you just pick what you want to buy and then pay for it, but as a teenager who recently got thier license , I haven't been to a supermarket in years because I normally don't go with my parents when they go shopping. Now my mom is vouching for me to go grocery shopping for her and I feel a bit intimidated by the process because I haven't been through it in years. If anyone who got this far into the question please just give me some tips the specifics of grocery shopping and payment methods and the very specifics of the checkout process. (For example, payment with cash vs check vs credit card, and what i have to sign and what the proper processes are for each one) Also if someone could please explain to me the self checkout areas and how exactly they work.(specific info please ) So , yeah if you can give all the advice that you can about the things I mentioned above I would really appreciate it and also if you have extra info i'd like to know about that as well. 1 second ago - 4 days left to answer.

Answer:
havent gotten that far along yet though i soon will.. the self checkout is rather easy, its just pain in the *ahem* sometimes, if you need extensive instructions ask the person at the head (assuming there is one) more or less, it may appear daunting, but its really not so difficult i know its not much, but theres only so much explaining one can do, the rest is experience

Dude. As someone who WORKS at a grocery store I would say that you have nothing to worry about. Cashiers walk people through the payment process hundreds of times a day. It varies depending on where you live I'm sure, but most people pay with cash, credit, or debit. Usually stores have little pads that you use when paying with a credit/debit card. If you don't see one just hand the card to the cashier. If you're using debit you need a pin number for the card, if you aren't using debit it'll be credit and you need to sign. Honestly for your first time cash might be easiest. Everyone knows what to do with cash. The self checkout is self explanatory...the machine walks you through the whole process. You just press start, scan the items and place them into the bags, then the machine will prompt you through the rest. Really though, just ask the cashier what to do.
Don't do checks. Everyone will get mad at you holding up the line. CCards, you just slide it thru. Debit, you gotta remember your pin Self check out- don't do this if you have vegetables or fruits. It'll take awhile to look for the code listed above per lbs. Don't lift the bag once you place the merchandise in there- it'll throw off the entire thing. Scan it right. Make sure it's scanned once though! Don't forget to enter your club savings # with the card or enter your #. Then push on the screen that you are ready to pay. Take a cart, with a list, pay in cash, and don't forget the receipt. Simple.
