Does the custodial parent's voluntary unemployment status affect the child support cost of the other parent?
-
The mother chooses not to work and got kicked out of school because she refused to go to school. Also, the father is the non custodial parent but is having a child with another woman but they are together and she will not be putting him on child support. Will his support for the first child be lower because he also has to support his other child?
-
Answer:
It depends on the state you're in. I'm in Arkansas & here the support can be lowered if the non-custodial parent can afford a lawyer & go to court to get the child support lowered by showing that they can't properly provide for the child at home because of the high cost of child support. It helps if the non-custodial parent is married too.
