Should I report my uncle?

  • So I have an uncle that I hardly ever see, but we just had a family gathering yesterday and he was there. At one point it was just me and my uncle in a room and he had been drinking just a little bit but wasn't really drunk. He is a pediatrician and started talking to me about his job when he gives physicals or whatever for young teenage girls. He was saying how he has the best job and how he often works on naked and half-naked girls during the physicals and how he basically gets to massage their breasts and often times check around and in their vagina. I was simply too shocked to say anything and I had no clue what to say and was starting to feel sick to my stomach from hearing this. He went on to say that he would get a hard on almost every time and sometimes would "relieve" himself in the bathroom after an exam (he used much more vulgar words with everything he said, but I toned them down a little). Right after saying that the rest of family, which had been outside, came back in and so he stopped talking. I ended up leaving soon after that before I had a chance to say anything to him. He was obviously serious about what he said and there was much more to what he said than what I wrote, I just didn't want to make this too long. Should I report my uncle? Is it even possible to? I don't even know who I would call or what I would say. I really need help and this seems seriously wrong to me.

    yeah, you need to tell someone, because you're right, that IS wrong. he shouldnt be working with children, someone needs to know about this.

You can report him to the medical licensing board in your state. To get more information go to www.ama-assn.org What he said to you is deeply disturbing as is what he's doing to others. He should not be working with females at all. We don't need guys like this in medicine. Good luck.

Yes you need to tell someone. Either someone in your family or report it to his employer to keep tabs on him at his job. That is very wrong as a pediatrician.

Even though he's family, you need to tell someone because he sounds like a pedophile. I suggest telling the family member closest to him to see if they can address it before he does something that crosses the line too much. Just tell them what you told us (though you might be able to get away with leaving out most of the details, unless examples are needed). Good luck!

Report him and have him locked up. I have a 14 year old daughter who cheerleads and plays volleyball, so this kind of stuff really hits home when I think about doctors that get to see her naked and touch her during physicals. I know he is your uncle and you might be hesitant about doing anything, but please do report him. People like that don't deserve to be doctors.

Hey I think you're doing the completely right thing by reporting him. His thoughts are vulgar, and the girls that he 'practices' on, are at risk of sexual abuse, which is completely wrong. I praise you for standing up to his behaviour, even if you are related. You need to tell a family member first, and then take the next step. Good luck =)
