What do you do being a chef?

I want to become a chef when im older but im being told that i shouldn't... What do i do?

  • So I really love food and i want to become a chef wen i grow up and when i told my parents this my mom said awesome but my dad said well why you never cook around the house. And one day when i was cooking i messed something up and he says way to go chef! and i said jeez thanks for the support on helping me follow my dreams he then said oh i totally support you by not being a chef. I told my mom about this and she said why let it get under your skin? do what you want to do. i love food and cooking why cant he see that and just accept what i want to do? Anybody have any opinions or thoughts that could help me?

I think that you should follow your dreams. If that is what you really want to do, then go for it! Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Good luck; you can do it! ^_^

They have cooking schools and when you finish high school it would be a good way to make a living. Your parents may not realize that you really are interested they think you are just talking. Maybe your mom will teach you a few things to help you out. Good luck

I love food too. Though I don't cook it. I enjoy eating it. XD. Don't let it get to you. This is your DREAM were talking about. He's your father and he should be able to accept what you love to do. Follow your dream. If you're good at it, do it. Don't let him stop you. Good Luck. ;)

Some people don't think of the culinary profession as being much of a profession at all. When they hear "chef", they think of a line cook or a fry cook at Wendy's. Maybe if you show him that chefs are very well respected and well paid, he'll jump on the band wagon. Good luck!

Accept that your father is not perfect and follow your dream. Eventually he'll realize you're serious. Your best revenge is being the best Chef in the world. Dream of your day of revenge when he's invited to eat as your guest at the most respected restaurant in New York City where to rave reviews you've just been promoted to Head Chef. As he eats his meal you can ask "Well Dad, what do you think of my dream now"?

follow your dreams!!! and i get that you messed up. everyone messes up in life and to be a better chef practice the dishes that you are having trouble with and i know his your dad but follow your dreams!!! don't give up cause because you messed up and cause your dad told you that he doesn't want you to be one.show him that you love what you want to do and that you're good at it that way he will accept what you want...... but if he doesn't accept it don't give up! good luck :)
