How much can you expect to make as a surgeon?

My parents expect me to go to college, but I'm not sure if I really want to...?

  • Ok, so I'm in the ninth grade and my parents keep pressuring me about my future. I get good grades, I'm In a lot of advanced classes and all, and my parents expect me to go to college and graduate and become a world famous brain surgeon or something. I don't even have a clue what I want to be, and my parents keep telling me, just do what makes you happy, but they still keep telling me I need to be successful, and I'm scared of disappointing them. This is going to sound kind of cheesy, but all my life I thought, oh i want to go to college and become a doctor and discover the cure for cancer. Then I realized a couple months ago, that's not what I want. I thought that's what I wanted because it was what my parents wanted. And now I'm in high school where everything is suddenly more serious about your future, and what I really want is just to graduate high school and travel the world and have fun. I mean, not like get high and party fun. Like try to complete the things on my bucket list stuff. Go to new York, Italy, california, make friends, have fun for a while and move on. I just want to have fun while I'm still young and enjoy life, and not have to wait until im almost 30 where i start to mature and not be able to enjoy things with a more child like mind. I'm always at home studying or at school working. I'm so sick and tired of school, but Im still getting good grades. I don't want to attend College for like 8 years and be a doctor or lawyer or geneticist. My parents have already saved up a lot of money in the bank. I just want to still be 19-22 when im having fun, not having to worry about exams and stuff and being in my late 30s when i get the chance the have fun, and im already probably going to be too mature or serious to enjoy certain things. Is that too much to ask?

    im a junior aswell im 17 years old and i use to be pressured into going to college and i make decent grade a's and b's but not advanced classes and i have alot of fun and i goto alot of parties and my parents know that but i told them that i wanna wait awhile to goto college to save up money for it to buy a new computer or stuff like that

you might still change your mind, just remember if you dont go to college you wont have the money to have fun with

I have the same problem but I solved for my self by talking to my friends and one of them Samantha said go to College because then you will be able to be a Doctor/Nurse so yes go to college if you want a good job. :) PS. Just think about it After your done you could go have Free Time before you have a job and I would think about saving some money in the bank right now so you can afford to have Free Time and also good thinking on that cancer thing but I think you have to be a researcher I don't know but follow you dreams :) right now im a doctor :P oh and if you want to make more money or something like that have two dreams :P my second one is to be a singer Coming from a kid who skipped a grade XD im 11 :P
