How much to ask for babysitting !?

  • Ok , I am going to be babysitting to kids , a 7 year old girl , and a 10 year old boy . It will be two days a week , 4:00 to 8:00 , I will need to cook them dinner , and so on . Their parents told me that I could tell them how much I wanted ! And , I dont really know what to ask . My parents think like 5 dollars an hour , but I dont know ! Help ! Thanks !

    star out wit 5 the work ur way up.... eventually u will get at 10 so start out small then go up

I looked on the web and found that most people pay their baby sitters $5.00 an hour per child. So if you are going to take care to two children you should ask for $10.00 per hour or $40.00 per night. That is the going rate for most sitters. Some get as much as $20.00 per hour. They play and interact with the children and keep them busy doing art work while the sitter is preparing their dinner. When I was baby sitting years ago, I got $.50 a hour. So if I baby set for 4 hours I received $2.00. Plus I had to clean up the kitchen which was always a mess. And wash the dishes by hand. How times have changed.

I would say $6. I started at $5 an hour and it is kind of hard to get out of that rut. I have been babysitting for like 4 years now and and I am still making $5 an hour. So if you start at $6 you will be better off because they will only ask you once :)

I would say $5 per kid per hour. Especially if you are cooking dinner for the kids, I expect you will also be helping them with homework, and even possibly cleaning house.

I would ask for Five dollars if their was one child.. but you have two and your making dinner.. Charge Six.

Six sounds reasonable. Then again, I'd probably just do it for free if it was a one time thing.
