Does horseback riding tear up general use trails?

How to Become a Guide on Horseback Riding Trails?

  • I'm not sure how to actually put the question, but that was as good as I could come up with. Anyway, you know when you go horseback riding on a trail and there's always a guide who rides ahead of the group, or a small portion of a large group? What would I have to do to become one? What kind of courses would I have to take, if any? How much do they make - probably not a whole heck of a lot, but it's better than nothing. Thank you so much!

  • Answer:

Horseback guides are not well-paid. Contact a few ranches to find out what experience they want in a guide. You probably should find a place where you can get experience with handling, training, cleaning, feeding, treating horses. You can also take certification courses.
