What longboard should I get?

What size longboard should I get?

  • Next month is my birthday and I'm planning to get a longboard. I skateboard and have been skating for longer than I can remember and I know quite a lot about skating. I usually ride size 8" boards so I was just wondering what a decent average size was for a longboard? My brother and friend both own longboards and I can ride both of them fine but they don't know anything about their own boards hahaha. But I do plan on getting a Sector. What size or deck would you recommend?

  • Answer:

There is a lot to learn about longboarding if you are really interested. Shape, flexy, ply, dropped, drop-through, concave, trucks, bushings, wheels. SilverfishLongboard is a great place to find out what you want. Post a question there too. http://www.silverfishlongboarding.com/ Not all longboards are the same, and it really depends on what style or riding you plan on doing. Obviously a cruising board will be different that a downhill board. If would be nice if you gave some more info. Do you want a large board? Sector 9 boards are alright. If you plan on getting it, I would only look at the Super Shaka or Mini Shaka. I would suggest something around 36"-40" for that real longboard experience. Just look around on the forums, and post a question there. There will be more knowledgeable people there then on Yahoo Answers.
