How do I train to tryout for the soccer team?

  • I want to join the girls soccer team next year as a sophomore. I want to get in shape but I don't know how /: I REALLY want to make the team cause I don't want my friend to make it and I don't :( How do I get ready? I know I should start running but what else?

    I have been playing soccer for around 11 years now, and the best way I know is to play pick-up/scrimmage games with friends, and make sure you run to (soccer is mainly running, you can't lack in stamina), also look up videos on youtube for just small drills to practice with and without the ball, you might want to consider training at least 5-6 days a week and rotate different activities Example: Sunday- Afternoon Run/Agility Monday- 2 Drills with ball, 2 drills without ball/Afternoon Run Tuesday- Afternoon Run/Scrimmage with friends Wednesday- Watch a couple of soccer games on TV or Youtube Thursday- Afternoon Run/Speed Training Friday- Afternoon Run/ Drills Saturday- Watch one soccer video to get ideas/juggling with ball for 20 min. Always make sure to pace yourself and wear appropriate gear (shin-guards, socks, cleats without studs, etc.) You have to keep a routine in order for maximum achievement! Stay with it! You will do great!

Do some sprint work, there are so many short sprints you do during a soccer match. Try jogging for a minute then sprint for 10 seconds. Jog for another minute, sprint fro 10 seconds. Do this consistently for 6 weeks and you'll notice a difference in your stamina.
