Should I study abroad?

CCC Student Study Abroad Before UC 4-Year?

  • I was wondering if UC's allow CCC students to study abroad prior to enrollment. I wanted to go to Japan this coming summer since I am an aspiring International Studies major and that is when some people I know are going to study abroad as well. Furthermore, I was wondering if I could attend the UC programs for studying abroad even before I am admitted. I wanted to do the UC Irvine study abroad program in Japan. Those are one of the 3 UCs that I want to go to. I have completed all the undergrad classes I could for UCI as told through assist but I can't tag so I am hoping to get into that school. Other than UCI I would also want to attend UCSD and UCD. So overall, can I do study abroad programs the summer before I am admitted? If I can, am I allowed to do the study abroad programs in certain UCs even if I'm not admitted yet? Thanks for your help!

  • Answer:

I am currently studying abroad through the UC (University of California, right?) system through UCSB. Although I'm not quite sure about the answer to your question, I do suggest that you contact either the systemwide office (http://eap.ucop.edu/contact_info.shtm) or the UC Irvine campus information (http://www.cie.uci.edu/contacts/). Sending a little email with your question wouldn't hurt. My experience with EAP staff has always been wonderful, so I'm sure they wouldn't mind helping you out. Especially because the UCs push their students to study abroad. Also, you might want to check the program requirements which you can get to through the first link. I hope this helps and good luck!
