Are there study abroad scholarships or financial aid?

How much to save to study abroad?

  • I want to study abroad next year during the spring semester to Paris, but I was wondering around how much should I save? Is $5000 enough or do I need more. I would definitely need financial aid and scholarships to go but how much should I have to live there for a semester? Any of you have study abroad and how much did you need? Thanks for you help.

  • Answer:

Paris is expensive. Five grand would probably only pay for your rent for a semester, and that's if you had roommates. I would see if your college (assuming you are in college) has a partnership program. It is 100% the cheapest and most hassle-free way to study abroad. I did a program in Angers (2 hours west of Paris) and just paid my regular tuition to my university at home. My regular tuition paid for my tuition in France, for my room with a French family, and I got a food stipend of 300 Euro a month. I saved up about $1,500 and that was enough to buy my plane ticket and to travel around and have a lot of fun. Angers wasn't quite AS cool as Paris, but I did get to go to there, along with Amsterdam, Leiden, Brussels, and Budapest.
