How should I study for my SHSAT?

How should i study for the shsat?

  • Im now a 7th grader and i want to start studying for the shsat cuz i just NEED to get into stuy and the ealier u start the better. I heard about how the barron is 3x harder than the actual test and how the kaplan is easier. So far my plan is to do all two of them. In 5th and 6th grade, i got two 4 for both subject so what is my chance? my other question is that do high schools look at ur 7th grade work cuz ALL my teachers have been telling me that "they watch everything u do in 7th grade" and its freaking me out. I fail one test in science this quarter but the report card didn't come out yet so i dont know if i pass this subject. Thanks

  • Answer:

the state test does not matter. your grades do not matter if you are planning to attend a specialized high school. it all matters your score on the shsat. if you do well on that, you're in, if you don't, it doesn't matter your scores for anything else- you could have a 98 average and still be rejected. it all depends on your composite score. you can start studying from now to two weeks before the test, it doesn't matter. non-specialized high schools do look at your grades for last quarter seventh grade.
