How do you apply to be an exchange student?

I want to be an exchange student, how do i start?

  • I'm 15 years old with above average grades, and i want to study in America for my senior year (i'm a junior right now) My parents aren't members of the Rotary, so i think i can't apply for a program there, right? I've heard about Best Student Exchange, can anyone tell me what the arrangement is for that? http://www.best-student-exchange.com/ I already have a visa to go to the US, but if i want to study there for more than 3 months, i think i need to apply for AN F-1 Visa? How is that? And i would like to know the fees, because thats a major concern for my family. They said the Best Student Exchange is almost free?

  • Answer:

Rotary will often advertise in school newsletters and arrange an information evening. Then you will be interviewed by a Rotary representative. Like many things in life, it is of course difficult to be selected. If you can, ask someone who has been an exchange student about what kind of answers or approach is seen as appropriate/commendable for this kind of study. Also remember that moving to a completely different country and system for a whole year (and be removed from your own family) and maintain a good study record is a big step, and should not be taken lightly.
