How do cultural exchange in another country?

How to choose which country to go on an exchange program to?

  • I am looking at doing a 2-3 week exchange program next summer (in July 2013). I am currently a 16 year old girl in grade 11, living in Canada. I only speak English and a tad of French. I was browsing on this exchange program website, and you can go to a variety of countries. I was particularily looking at England or Australia, because they don't require you to know another language. I was wondering what were some tips on choosing a country to exchange to? I have travelled to Italy, Portugal, Slovenia, Mexico, and some of USA and Canada. I really have loved all the places I've seen; I think I just love travel and I have an open mind!

  • Answer:

Dont worry about the language and go to some place you really want to see and learn more about! Most tourist type places have people who speak english anyway, but going somewhere with a different language can be fun and give you an opportunity to learn something new. I think you should go somewhere in Europe because there is so much culture and plenty of things to do. Italy and France are both beautiful places. If your really worried about the language (or your school requires it) than i vote England over Australia.
