Should I study abroad in Paris?
-
First off, what are the requirements to study abroad in Paris?, and what would I have to do to get them?. I'm a little bit above intermediate, so my French isn't really that bad!!. If you've ever studied abroad in Paris, how was it like, and what should i be prepared for?.I'm still thoroughly contemplating whether or not I should study abroad in Paris. Paris has always been a dream to me, there are no words to explain how much passion I have for Paris and just France in general. I feel like studying in Paris would do a lot of great things for me, and it would change my life from the daily experiences. It's be great to explore something new. It is my DREAM. My mother is scared and over protective because i'm going to be alone, so I don't know if she'd let me. I also have worries. I'm going to another country on my own, where I know NOBODY, and I have to start fresh, I'd miss my friends and family, but Paris is MY DREAM! it's all I ever think about, my life would be incomplete without studying/going to Paris. I also want to gain fluency with my French, i'm really REALLY passionate about their language, i really want to be fluent!!. Any advice on this? please help, any tips, experiences, opinions, !!! Please and Thankyou!

Answer:
The usual approach is to be enrolled in a U.S. university and go on one of their arranged exchange programs. When you do that, you pay your normal tuition to your school, and then you just need to pay your airfare and living expenses. Most students who do this study only the language while there. If your French skills are good, you can take other classes as well. Then you present information about the courses when you get back to get credit for them at your school. The other option is to apply to a French university. The procedures for that would be on their websites. Tell your mother that Paris is a much safer place for you to be than anywhere in the U.S. The violent crime is much lower, and the risk to women is especially low.

What are you going to study there? If its something you can study just as well wherever you live now, don't do it. Especially if you won't be sustaining yourself financially. Rather than going to "study", go on a vacation to Paris. Then maybe it'll prepare you to see if you can live there in the future.
