What exactly is a certificate of studentship?

  • well I just got back from a japanese language school and they told me they could not give me a certificate of completion of the 1 year I stayed because I had *bad attendance* (they had a late slip program in there awful school so even if I was 3 minutes late, they would count it as absent) , but they said that they could give me a document certificate of studentship. and just for the information incase , Also I plan to Go to a fashion college in Spain , but not untill 9 months ahead of me now that I will start applying . or is it useless and should I just tell them to go to hell? SO can anyone explain?

    Certificate is the proof that you fulfilled all the requirements needed for the particular course or discipline in a given time. For eg,in this case you didn't full filled the attendance requirement so you were not given any certificate. Who ever bears that certificate is saying that i have full filled all its requirements.

I'm not 100% sure but it sounds like it is a document that proves you took the course and that you attended the language school for that period of time. It wont give you any kind of qualification or proof of passing the course as it sounds like you didn't but it will tell future schools and universities that you did actually go there. If I were you I would take the document because at least then you have proof you undertook the course. Maybe you could also ask them if there was anything you could do to get the certificate. Maybe you could take an extra exam or submit some extra work. If not just take the document of studentship and put the course behind you. Unless you need the language qualification to get in to the Spanish fashion school then I wouldn't worry to much.
