What should I do in France?

What to learn in / from France?

  • My friend wants to study in France and wants to live there. Well, I asked her what she wants to study and she said "don't know yet but I just want to study in France because its cool". Well three things I can imagine studying in France are Art, Cuisine and Fashion plus French but those things could be studied in Italy too, except for French...and she doesn't seem to be interested in studying any of those... I'm just thinking what can you learn from France in these days, I mean there are no high techs like in Germany or Japan, no IT technology or movie industries like in the Unites States, nor France has any eco industries nor eco friendly design industries like in Sweden or Finland... Even in fashion industries, we see apparel shops like H & M, Gap, Forever 21, Zara, Uniqlo, American Eagle, etc but none of these are French... Well, so in these days are there anything you can learn from France? Also what can you do with French you learned? In what field an you use French today? Or is she just looking for french boyfriends since there are no fields she's being interested in.

  • Answer:

If the only reason your friend wants to study in France is because it's cool, I would suggest doing a study abroad program instead of going to France for the whole degree. That way she can study what she wants (in the US assuming she's in the US) and also get the study abroad experience in France, whether it's a semester or a year long study abroad program.
