What was life like for African Americans after reconstruction?

Are Asian Americans becoming less productive academically and in life as they become Americanized?

• Are Asian Americans any different from your average non-ethnic American when it comes to becoming less productive after generations? For example, does their family unity and support change after the 2nd, 3rd, and or 4th generation of Americans? Is their ability to excel academically and their ability to achieve upward social mobility slowed or stunted do to Americanization of their families by the 3rd generation? I know that: • this is a generalized question. I also know Asian Americans fare much better if they are NOT descendants from: * countries that were colonized * countries that experience years of warfare in recent times. I know that South Asia, South East Asia, and the far East regions are very different but most have something in common: * strong family unity. * a strong desire to excel. Again, are Asian Americans any different from your average non-ethnic American when it comes to becoming less productive after generations?

  I think that just as long as Asians stick together, meaning marry each other, the values will generaly stick. Not only that, but it will be easier for Asians because they were raised in America, have more resources, easier access to information, etc. I think that when Asians marry outside of their race, family value is often lost. Asians who marry outside their race usually adopt other non-asian values, and are more likely to divorce and value family less. If you look at mix asian/non-asian kids, it's normal that their parents divorce...and are living far away. The kids have to move from one parent to the other and have to deal with the hardships of separation. Mix kids in general have it harder than regular kids in some aspects. It's only true Americanization if you mix with Americans. If you're just benefiting from America, but associate with your own, you still hold old traditional asian values.
