Hottest place in North America?

I am a Japanese and wanna study my PHD in North America. I wanna your advice for me to choose place.?

  • I am a Japanese and wanna study my PHD in North America. And I want to choose one from following places: Vancouver, Newfoundland, Toronto, Montreal, New York, Chicago, Los angelese, Corvalis( Near Portland), Seattle. I want someone give me advice. I probably will work and immigrate there. I am considering whether they have racial discrimination. And I wanna be very social there coz I like sports, gym and personality is quite outgoing. Before my master finished in Scotland, it is an awful place people on the street see me as differently coz there are few asians there. And also I travel around europe in Germany and Neitherland I feel so good. They are open minded and tolerant. And in Spain and France people are arrogant. Especially in Spain, I really don't know what they are thinking about. Actually my country is much richer than them. And a lot of black guys got discriminated in Europe I feel so shame of that.

New York its very diverse

As far as significant Asian population goes stay in the coastal cities. I'm Asian and have lived in Seattle, New York, Los Angeles, and currently living in Chicago. I've visited Vancouver and Portland. New York and Los Angeles is very diverse and especially has a significant Japanese population. Chicago not so much. Seattle and Vancouver is also great for diversity as well and they are very easy-going and accepting of Asian culture. New York has excellent (but dirty) public transportation but Los Angeles doesn't so it's hard to get around L.A. without a car. all in all, I would suggest New York because living in New York is definitely a one-of-a-kind experience. You have to try it at least for a little bit.

I don't think you should worry about racial discrimination in the U.S.A because of the places you have just mentioned. I'd say Vancouver or Toronto. There are plenty of Asians there.
