How To Reward Children?

Why in the U.S.A. do we reward women for having children out of wedlock?

  • I understand that some people may need assistance. Why is it though, that our government here in the US gives free housing, food, health care, money, etc..., etc... etc... whilest hard working individuals that pay taxes have to pay for their own rent, food, health care, etc..., etc..., etc... It is not a race issue, it is a moral issue. GOD BLESS AMERICA. How about we as a nation get real. We the people are supposed to be the 'crem de la crem' or somethin lik dat, naw meen?

  • Answer:

It's not true that women re REWARDED for having children out of wedlock. What you think all those etc. are I don't know. It's not as though they're given private planes. It's a really hard life, given how little welfare pays. No genuinely HUMAN being wants to simply let those children starve to death in the streets. That would NOT be moral, but the opposite. That employees aren't paid a living wage for their labors is NOT the fault of the women or children kept alive by welfare -- it's a different issue; it's a matter of owners thinking they have the right to keep 80% of the profit from everyone else's labor. Instead of heaping hate on those in the worst position, with the least power, why not blame those responsible for the situation? BTW, in civilized countries, those who don't have jobs are taken care of vastly better than we care for our poor. But I gather you don't think being civilized would be a good thing.

What would Jesus do? I am asking you since you are such an obvious Christian. And I am pretty sure, your savior, Jesus, he helped the poor in his time did he not? And as a Christian, you are to be Christ like, right? So, why are you complaining about helping those who are in need and with children? Always remember this: " JUDGE NOT LEST YE BE JUDGED." Jesus also said that.

People don't need to be married to have children, my parents aren't and they've been together for 20 years. Marriage doesn't keep you together under an iron chain, you can get a divorce, my parents are still together because they know they have love and know that they don't have to marry to show it. Some People need assistance in whatever circumstance, I understand that some people abuse this, and a lot do but who are you to first judge them without the whole story and second deny them this if they really do need it?

Digga

That is a just coincidence. They aren't being "rewarded". Uneducated, working class people tend to be single parents and also need the assistance.

Just because people are in a bad situation doesn't mean that they don't work hard. We don't all start at the same position, but we are expected to finish at the same point. If you don't need help you don't receive it. You shouldn't judge people when you don't understand what they've been through. I don't personally know women like you are describing, however I don't look down on them like you do. I understand that they could have been raised in a tough environment without parent guidance, etc, and have easily made mistakes. I expect more out of people who were raised in good households.

Ah! I have been enlightened!

This is not 1949 its 2009, you can't leave certain people out because they have public assistance because you don't know everyones story. So to group all women that have children out of wedlock as being non-hardworking people is wrong. Have you seen some of these free housing places they are disgusting and are in horrible neighborhoods. That small check they get can barely pay for some of their necessities. Some people do feed off of public assistance but a good percentage of people that have it need it.

they aren't being rewarded. the money is for the kids, who can't help it that they were born into low-income, single parent families. that's how it's supposed to be used at least. and having a kid out of wedlock isn't always a bad thing. some people just chose not to get married.

Blame the Liberals/Democrats, they love free market, free money. There's nothing they can say to convince hard working tax payers that their taxes is doing a good dead for the many people who abuse the welfare system. Not everyone does, but a huge percentage do. And many of those liberal women get abortions. I understand some people aren't married but are still together like Digga said, but many people who lack much of any moral values often live destructive lives, single mothers, single fathers, not enough money, get rid of babies you can't care for. Things like that sickens me about some people.

I agree, they need to make it so if you go on public assistance you have to get on birth control and NOT have more children or you get kicked off the program and have to fend for yourself! Either that or you have to agree to get sterilized if you want the assistance! How ridiculous to be on assistance and get pregnant again! They look at it as a way to support their kids, not as help to get on their own feet! Something should have been done about this years ago and the idiot that had 8 babies proves it!

Your question could have very well been asked in the UK or many other countries for that matter. We have thousands of single mothers here too, who have never worked, never been married, and whose full-time `occupation` is having kids by different fathers. They are totally kept by the hard-working taxpayers, who often have kids of their own to keep. Governments think in simplistic ways (remember, they have no money of their own). Y is working hard and has managed to save some money: X is hard up - and has kids and therefore can`t go to work. Solution: Take money off Y and give it to X, and if Y has any left over (saved) tax him, and hope he keeps working and trying to save! But watch Y carefully, cos they might need plenty of extra benefits.
