Australians only: Are the shops open tomorrow due to Easter?

Are Australians manipulated by TV and big business?

  • I live in Australia and I notice Australians eat cakes, chocolates and muffins on a daily basis. There are so many great fruits out there, so why do they insist on cake and chocolate? During Easter all the shops fill up with chocolate eggs and sweet buns. It's almost like they are forcing everyone to stuff themselves with chocolate and cakes for a whole month. In many other countries around the world people have real boiled eggs on Easter day, the mothers and kids paint them in different colours and eat them on Easter. According to tradition Jesus Christ was born in a simple environment and wasn't surrounded by cakes and chocolates. I wonder is this a case of marketing and big business brainwashing everyone and turning people into consuming sheep without caring about their health? What do you think?

  • Answer:

I don't think Aussies are easily manipulated, in fact we are a very cynical lot. The companies are just catering to what people want.

possibly

Yes, most countries are maniputaled by TV and big business, and most countries where people are predominantly Christian have odd ideas (BUY BUY BUY) about holidays. Cakes and chocolate are both OK in moderation, but I agree, some people eat too much of both.
