How is the gay life in Houston?

  • Hi, I'm moving to Houston from Seattle in December. I have only been to Houston a few times and that was when I was a teenager. I'm a 33 year old gay guy who is partnered. My partner and I are moving to Houston together due to my work. I know Houston is the 4th largest city in the country with the 12th largest LGBT community in the US, but I'm wondering how different it is from Seattle. Here in Seattle, being gay is really not even an issue. In most every neighborhood, it is common to see men holding hands with men and women with women. Would such as this be offensive in the likely more conservative Houston? I know there are "gayborhoods" in Houston as well, but wonder what those areas are like. Any direction would be very much appreciated.

That's nice wher u lived

Houston is a very diverse city, but I would not go around holding hands with my bf in just any part of town. If you are looking for more gay friendly areas, check out the neighborhoods around the intersection of Montrose & Westheimer. This is considered the gay part of town. I am sure you can find some nice lofts downtown that would also be pretty gay friendly. There are lots of gay clubs in town too. I think you will be happy there. I loved living in Houston. I moved away many years ago though.
