How do I get rid of my homosexual desires and urges?

  • I am twenty years old and I just recently admitted to myself that I have homosexual desires since I was about 12 and I still have them. I also have sexual desires for women as well. I feel my desire for women is stronger but lately my gay urges have been growing steadily. I have a girlfriend who sensed this about me before I really even admitted it to myself and she is the most important person in my life. I want to always be with her but I also want to rid myself of the other gay desires. is that possible?

    Aversion therapy. If you mentally associate your urges with something gross and disgusting, you will either learn to be disgusted with your urges or you will be turned on by gross stuff. Most mental thought processes are heavily influenced by suggestion and observation. More people are choosing to be gay or bi because such a lifestyle is becoming more and more visible, hence it's a growing snowball effect. There is also the fluoride effect. One third of all children in the U.S. have dental fluorosis, which means that exposure to fluoride has been steadily increasing in the U.S., which prompted the E.P.A. to dramatically decrease the amount of allowable dumping of this toxic substance into the environment. They halved it! We know that fluoride is a neurotoxin that targets the nerves connecting the brain to its higher functions, thus resulting in a chemical lobotomy with long term exposure to low doses. We know that brain scans of homosexuals show a similar smaller hypothalamus as do patients with severe depression. We know that anxiety goes hand in hand with depression. We know that nervous feelings can often be confused and thus lead to arousal. Y!A won't give me the space to fill in all the gaps, but I can explain more thoroughly if you ask. It is possible to rid yourself of your gay desires. It is a similar process as training your brain for positive thinking. To begin, you learn meditation to still the mind, or cease thought. This strengthens that part of your brain that controls thought.

It's too bad bisexuals can't stay with one partner regardless of their attraction to both sex's......oh wait. You don't have to, nor can you change your sexual desires, it shouldn't matter either, just stay monogamous to your girlfriend.

The best thing you can do is accept the fact that you have these desires and urges. Then remind yourself that even if you are bisexual, or gay; you are in a relationship and these desires (just like any desires you may get for another woman) are no excuse for cheating. (and if you act on these desires, that's exactly what you would be doing.) Treat the homosexual desires the same way you would treat any other desires to cheat on your girlfriend and move on with life. You may never get rid of them totally. Just accept them for what they are and live your life according to what's important to you.

Hi Aaron! Well, it sounds to me as if you are bisexual but you have not been able to exercise your sexual desire for males. I am afraid that there is no way that you can rid yourself of gay desires. They are inbred from the moment you left your mother's womb. Be thankful that you love your girl friend but if you want to release your gay emotions then be very discreet. Perhaps that will decide you that heterosexual sex is by far the better idea. Have fun!

You have no control over your desires and your urges. Those are part of you and won't turn on or off like a faucet. What you DO have control over is your actions. Just don't act on those desires and urges. That is fully possible. Many bi people who get married are very successful at not acting on their gay urges, for decades.
