Why wont my Sound card work?

  • Why wont my Sound Blaster Audigy Value work? It used to work before i changed my graphics card ( i am now running a 550w minimum graphics card on a 500w psu ) the graphics are great andworking very well.The only problem is now both my Sound card and DVD drive dont work. Problems in Detail : Sound Card: the sound card is detected ( in device manager it says PCI device ) but the drivers wont install cause it says card not detected, now i have a red cross on my sound meter and no sound. DVD drive: it ejects and inserts the disk and spins up a bit but wont read any disks, i have tried disks which worked before i replaced graphics card. Any help?

    Try turning off the computer and then removing both sound card and cd drive. Then turn on pc and verify that there no longer in device manager then turn off again re connect items then turn back on and try again. Check for the latest drivers online on the manufacturers website

Do as Tom said, but for the sound card, try to use a different PCI slot when you put it back in. Sometimes this forces the pc to allocate different resources to the cards so any conflicts might fix themselves.
