What's the best amp for two "dual" Kenwood KFC-W3012?

Fader control and fine tuning on a HU(Kenwood DDX5032) with only 2 pre-out?

  • Hi I have a Kenwood touchscreen HU DDX5032. It has only two pre-outs ie. 1. Front and 2. Rear/Sub. I wanna hook up a mono amp for the sub and a 4channel amp for the Front and rear speakers. Using the Front pre-out for the 4 channel amp and the Rear/Sub pre-out for the mono amp, whats the best solution to get best sound quality(Like in a 3 pre-out setup)? Since I cant use the fader control, how can I fine tune the sound? (The mono amp is 1000WRMS and a sub that matches amp's capacity.) Is there any way I can have fader control, by using a crossover network or equalizer? Many thanks in advance.

  • Answer:

A mono amp will have a built in crossover for sub use so you don't need to have the rear RCA preouts of the head set for sub use. Use a set of RCA 'Y' adapters to split the rear RCA preouts to both the mono amp and the rear channels of the 4 channel amp. The only disadvantage here is that the sub will fade out when you fade to the front channels but this is the only way you can do what you are trying to do without replacing the head with one that has 3 sets of RCA's.
