Car speaker and subwoofer help needed?

• can someone explain to me how car speaker, a subwoofer, and an amplifier are all tied together. how do they all work. can u use a subwoofer without an amp? i am using a jvc kdr-2000 cd/mp3 deck. i need to no how all these things work b4 i go and invest in new speaker, subwoofer, and an amp. also wat kind of amp shud i get a 2 channel or multi channel idk wat 2 get help!

  Your deck can power the speakers without an external power amplifier. Most consumers get a multi channel amplifier to power the speakers for more power than the deck can provide. If you add a subwoofer you will also need a power amplifier designed for subwoofer use. Subwoofer usually do the work in the frequency range of 20 - 100HZ and the midrange speakers (usually a 6.5") does the 100HZ to 2,500HZ and the tweeter from the 2,500 and above. If you have speakers in the front and back of your car then you need a 4 channel amplifier. Depending on your music taste, will also depend on the power requirements. Alot of hip hop music contains alot of bass, so you need a more powerful amplifier if you like your music load. For a normal person a 4 channel amp that has 50 - 100 watts is plentiful, and a subwoofer with 500 watts. Young kids think they need at less 1,500 watts for a subwoofer, so that everyone in the block can hear them coming. You can lose your hearing if you listen to load music all the time.
