Need help with car sound system?

  • Hi i am currently looking for some help with my cars sound system. I am 16 years old and just recieved my grandmas mazda 626 year 2000. It has bad stock speakers and a radio. I listen to alot of rap and like to have a nice bass. I was wondering what exactly to get for a good sound system. From what i have heard, i think im going to need 4 speakers, an amp, and a subwoofer. Now i know about the speakers and how they work but... I need to know if theres anything else i need besides those three items. Also: What exactly is an amp? price range? Subwoofer price range? does i need a subwoofer? What is a good brand of speakers? Take into account that most of my music is rap/hip hop. Please give me suggestions, help, advice, and any other tips of how to get a good sound system starting from scratch. Thanks!

    First off it is Do I need a subwoofer? and yes you do nitro audio is a good brand of audio equipment an amp makes things louder but i think one of your main problems is your driving a mazda

yea im 16 too and ive done alot of research and i listen to lots of rap too. so first off you need four speakers well wen you find them see what the rms watts are for each speaker and then you need an amp for four speakers id recomend a 4 channel amp so for instance if each speakers has 100 watts rms youd need a 400 watt 4 channel amp because 100x4 (4 being the # of channels) = 400 watts and your sub id recomend it because rap is mainly bass filled beats. so you would have to know how many subs u need i want 1 so for instance if your sub is 500 watts rms youd need a 500 watt (rms) 1 (mono) channel amp but just bcuz its 1 channel doesnt mean its for 1 sub you can hook up as many u want for instance you hav 4 subs each 500 watts rms so to make it easy and save money you could use a 2000 watt(rms) 1 channel amp and you kan power all 4 subs becuz 2000watts divide by 4= 500 watts to each and you need to get a box for your sub(s) you can either get a ported or sealed box i recomend ported because its louder nd has deeper bass. hope i helped bro
