How can i fix my car radio?

Car radio has a lot of static, how can i fix this?

  • i have a 98 explorer. the front right of the car was in a crash. ever since we got the car back the radio has been getting extremely poop reception. we thought it was the radio itself so we bought a new one, that didn't work. so then we bought a new antenna and it still didn't help. i think when the car place did something with the wires maybe they put the radio wire too close to a hot wire. can anyone help? please???

  • Answer:

Check the ground wires where the crash happened. Sometimes not enough ground makes this happen

When you installed the new radio was there a thick black wire(by itself) that plugged into the stereo(usually in a corner of the back)? Its a coaxial cable with an silver end that looks kinda like an rca plug that runs from your stereo to the antennae on your car. Most likely this came fell out during the crash since it just slides in. Pull your stereo out and shine a flashlight in the dash, it should be dangling somewhere in there or maybe under the passenger side dash if you still can't find it.
