What amp do I need to push my 2 12's?

If you have 2 kicker comp 12s with a max of 300/150(peak watts/rms), do you need a 600 watt amp or higher?

  • I cant figure this out. I have 2 comp 12's, i need to find the perfect amp for the absolute best performance. I would also like the amp to be a kicker prodect to keep all the components the same brand. I dont want to get a amp with to little power because i plan to upgrade to some compvr's someday. what would be a great amp for my setup? Thanks alot guys!

  • Answer:

max really means nothing unless your doing competitions and burping the subwoofers. but if its a everyday driving system then the rms is what you need to go by. so 150rms each will be 300watts rms. ill get a 350 or 400 watt mono block amplifier should do you good. im guessing you have dual 4's which is typical so get a amplifier thats stable at 1 ohm load with 350 or 400watts rms.

Just look at the rms value. If it is 150 per then it would be 300 for both so you need to find a kicker amp that has at least that or a little more. No more than 500 rms would work.
