Is there any easy way to install new car speakers?

How do I pick the right 6x9 speakers for my car?

• Lately my rear 6x9 speakers have been making popping sounds. It's probably because I've been letting my sister use my car, and she turned it up too loud even though I told her not to. Anyways, I did a little searching on the web for new 6x9s and I see a lot of 2-way, 4-way and 5-way speakers. I have no idea what that means. I have a '96 Dodge Avenger, and once I get an amp I have two Rockford Fosgate 12" speakers I want to hook up. So what type of 6x9s should I get? And can I install them myself? I know a little bit about electicity and wiring, but not hooking up speakers if that helps. Thanks.

  It depends what kind of sound your going for. 2-way means there are 2 speakers on the mid, 4-way is 4 speakers, 5-way is 5 speakers, You'll notice if you buy a 5-way speaker, you'll have 1 mid + 4 tweeters on the cone of the speaker. Me honestly I don't use those, I use components which come with a mid, tweeter, and a crossover. Like I said if you're going for the best sound, throw some 6x9 on amp. You'll be glad you did, and you'll never go back. Take the door panel off or the side panel. Unscrew the speaker and wire them up color coordinated. Reds positive, blacks negative.
