What is the difference between 2-way and 3-way car speakers?

How to Set-Up Multiple Amps(4) to Different Speakers & 1 Source?

  • i recently had a project/thing for car audio, so i went shopping for things i could use, here's a list: 2 hifonics brutus amp x 1600wts(for the l7's) 3 12" kicker l7's dual 2 ohms in a custom molded fiberglass box 2 kicker zx850.4 amp(for the rest of the speakers) 2 6x9 4way speakers 2 5x7 3way speakers 4 6" jl audio subs(2 for front &2 for rear door) 2 6" jl audio 2way speakers(to go with front door) 2 mb quart tweets(to go with front door) 2 5farad caps and most of the wires i had a custom fiberglass door panel made to hold 2 6" speakers in the front along with the tweets in 1 door, and i had the rear panel also molded with fiberglass to hold 1 6" sub on both side, then i had the rear panel behind the headrest molded also to hold the 6x9's and 5x7's do i need an extra battery? what else do i need to upgrade? pls help, i know how expenssive the installation cost and i have no more budget thats why i want to do this myself, and also pls tell me what else i need to finish this project i started, a diagram would really really be very helpful. thanks a bunch in advance for all the help and responses.

    first I would drop the caps. they won't help you any. Next you will definitly need to upgrade your alternator to run those 4 amplifiers. thats way more power then a stock charging system can handle. now you can hook up each subwoofer to a hifonics amp. and then you have 12 speakers to go with 2 amps. there's a few ways you could set that up. Maybe use one of those kicker amps to power the speakers on each side of the car. (like one amp for the speakers on the right and one for those on the left). or an amp for the 6" subs and rear speakers, then the other amp for the front speakers. so 6x9's and subs on one kicker. 5x7's, 6" 2 ways, and tweeters on the other amp. however you do it, just mkae sure you don't present any of your amps with an ohm load too low for it to handle and you'll be ok.
