What are some tips when shopping for subs and amps?

  • I'm looking to purchase car amps and subs from craigslist. Than plan to buy a PSU unit to make it home stable. Can you tell me what to look for? Is... JL Audio Kicker Quantrium good??

    JL is over priced, Kicker has decent speakers, good amps, subs are pretty good except for the L5 and L7 series subs because those have mechanical issues that have never been addressed by Kicker. Quantum is absolute garbage and I would not waste my time to so much as piss on their equipment. Some other brands to look for is Elemental Designs, Orion, Diamond Audio, Rockford Fosgate, Memphis, CDT, and Focal.

for everyday music good subs are mtx, kicker, jl audio, alpine, rockford fosgate, memphis and hifonics. for competition bass you might wanna get re audio, fi audio, dd audio, diamond audio, american bass and focal. as far as the amps get amps that are cea-2006 compliant. that means the amp will put out the rms wattage it claims and even more. if the amp is a monoblock rated at 600w rms at 2 ohms no matter what brand it is it will put out 600w rms or more.
