How to wire an amp in a car without a deck?

How do you wire an amp if the car deck does not have any rca?

  • Answer:

The RCA jack is more than just the right-sized connection. By definition the signal coming out of an RCA jack is of a certain voltage and amperage within a specified range. A deck having RCA out jacks means the amplifier is putting out a signal that is conducive to being fed into a secondary amplifier. So, it can be done but not without a fair amount of work to build a black box that will step down the watts to the appropriate input levels for the amp. And if you don't know what that means than the project is beyond your skillset.

Use an appropriate line output converter. If you are amping all of the speakers, select a 4-channel LOC. For a subwoofer with a mono amp, use a 2-channel LOC with input from the rear speakers. This LOC is a 4-channel: http://www.davidnavone.com/cart.asp?14&pid=363
