What door speakers should I get?

What door 6x8 speakers and 6x9's should I get?

  • I have 2 12 inch alpine SWR-1242D subs, alpine MRP-M1000 amp so im getting 1000 watts rms at 2 ohm. i have a 97 thunderbird and only 6x8 speakers will fit in front and rear. I currently have alpine type s speakers thats 50 watt rms each and its just not very loud they are just okay. I want to upgrade my 6x8 speakers preferably alpine, but IDK what I should get, just want my speakers louder. IM also going to get a pair of 6x9's and hook them to a 300 or 500 watt alpine amp just depends on what 6x9 speakers i get. so my 4 6x8 speakers are going to run off my head unit and my 6x9's going to run off another amp. What two pair 6x8 speakers should i get? What pair of 6x9 speakers should I get? The 6x9 speakers are going in the very back of the car behind the back seats by back window and im going to make boxes for them.

  • Answer:

Stick with the Alpines you already have. I can tell you now that they need a amplifier and crossover to make them come alive. Head unit power will never be enough to keep up with a high powered sub setup like you have unless you like your voicing low and bass loud. Since you have Alpine all around, it only makes since to opt for a Alpine 4 channel amp: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_12020_Alpine+MRP-F300.html This will be the key to what your system is missing in sound.
