I need amp for my speaker system.

Do i need to use a separate amp to power an audiobahn ABC600V component speaker system?

  • I'm thinking of purchasing an audiobahn ABC600V 2-way component speaker system for my car and I'm pairing it up with a pioneer head unit (deh-p3100ub) which has a built in power supply of 50 watts peak x 4 channels (14 watts RMS). The audiobahns have a peak of 280 watts (140 per side) and an RMS of 140 (70 each side). Do i need to use a separate amplifier in order to get optimal sound from my speakers? If so, what kind? And also, does the head unit need to have a built-in 2-way crossover network in order to be compatible with this audiobahn component? Sorry, i really don't understand much about this.

Jammal, do you realize that in your answer you contradicted yourself, your an idiot. First I am going to have to advise you against anything with the name Audiobahn associated with it, you would be better off buying sony; and I can not stand sony because they sound like crap. Which of course is what audiobahn sounds like. Look into Alpine and Polk Audio, wither of those brands you will be very happy with. Also an amp is needed to obtain optimal sound from the speakers.

You do not "have" to buy a separate amp but I would recomend that you do buy an amp for your speakers to get the optimal sound from them...especially if you have subwoofers and will have them in the furture.
