How to wire an amp in a car without a deck?

What is wrong if your amp stays on after you turn off your car? I have an REM wire connected to my deck. Help!?

  • Answer:

It's not connected to the correct wire...there should be 2 blue wires in ur deck and one is for the ANT and the other is Remote....Switch it to the remote wire and u should be STR8......

the remote wire is hooked up wrong. The remote wire on the back of most decks is either blue or blue/white stripe. If you can't figure which wire is the remote wire, you can always use the switched power for the head unit to turn the amp on and off. This will turn on the amp when the car accessory power is turned on, which is usually perfect anyhow. I have used this method several times to add amplifiers to stock systems using a speaker level to line level converter and using the accessory feed to turn the amp on and off. Hope this helps.
