Need help with a car Audio System?

I need help with setting up my Car audio system?

  • I recently purchased Kenwood KDC-X693 HU, KFC-XW1200F 12" shallow sub, Focal Access 165A1 components, Boston Acoustics SL65 coax, Kenwood KAC-8404 4 Channel and KAC-8104D mono amps. First, I wanna ask if this is even a right equipments for my Mini Cooper and secondly, how to set gains and frequencies for perfect sound. I haven't had much experience with car audio or any kind of audio other than Bose already setup systems. I need major help setting this car audio system. I pretty much listen to music very loud so I'm very cautious about blowing speakers.

  • Answer:

You need to wire it before you set frequencies. If you are getting it wired my a pro then he will set frequencies for you. If you are doing it at home you need to look up wiring guides and read a lot. And for knowing if your equipment is compatable or not, just ask the rep from the store you bought it from.

they should all work in ur cooper, to set the freqs keep the amp for the subs set to the lower hz and the if ur using the other amp for highs only turn it to higher hz, if using the amp for all around then in the middle the amp for subs should be set to LPF(low pass filter) and the other either flat(for all around) or HPF(high pass filter, for just highs) gain should be set to about halfway on both unless u want it louder u dont have to follow these steps, u can just turn the knob both ways and see how it sounds, pretty much what i do
