What's the best amp for my MTX 9500?

Mtx 15 9500 what amp?

  • i have a mtx 9500 15 inch sub and I have it in it's vented enclosure from mtx in a 94 Buick lesabre and I'm running a kicker zx1500.1 to it but I feel as I can power it even more I was wondering what amp I could get to lift it to it's full potential.

Becareful not to ask too much from subwoofers. That sub is rated at 1000rms power handling and you already have a 1500+ rms amp. If you just want louder bass then upgrade your electrical if you haven't. Adding a 2nd battery will make the bass about 20% bigger from what I experienced. Also do the big 3 to boost voltage. Becuase with just stock electrical you're not going to get 1500rms but imo probally just around 1100 rms from that amp unless the amp is really super underrated. Or if your electrical is already upgraded then upgrade to one more sub and amp. From my experience I've learned not to over power subs so much for dailey use. I once powered a 13w7 with a 1500 rms amp and wanted more bass like you. I strapped another identicle amp to the other set of voice coils and 3 days later the voice coil fried. Good thing the sub was still under warranty. Another time I used a kicker 500rms amp on a set of comps rated at 300rms and the subs blew after a year. But I think I got good enough use out of the subs. One time I blew an L7 in a few hours overpowering it twice of what its rated for.
