Help with Amp Wiring Kit for my Car?
-
Ok right now I have a 2 guage amp kit hooked up in my car to a 1000 watt max power kenwood amp and two 12" 1200watt 400 RMS Kenwoods too. If I wanted to Just replace the subs and amp without having to replace the whole amp wiring kit. Would I blow something up? or mess up something because the subwoofers I want are kicker L7s and they are 1500 watts max power apiece?

Answer:
A 2-gauge wire is overkill for your current amplifier, so you should be able to upgrade the amp and continue using the same wire. By the way, "max" power ratings are pretty useless numbers. When you're comparing amps and subs, always ignore "peak" and "max" ratings and look at the RMS ratings.
