What are tweeter speakers?

NEED HELP WITH OLD POLK AUDIO SPEAKERS (TWEETER ISSUE)?

  • well i have probably 10 - 20 year old polk audio BEASTS. these were my dads, i have two larger speakers and two smaller speakers, they are great and get very loud. i must have been listening way to loud one day and i blew the tweeter out of the smaller one. it no longer works. then a couple days later the other small speakers tweeter went. so i have two big speakers that work fine, and two smaller ones that work with no tweeters. any suggestions on what i can do to repair these or get them fixed? is the tweeter the only thing in need of fix? i took them out, i think they are sl1000? or sl1500 i can't remember. help please.

    Just put new tweeters in. Tweeters are cheap, getting a new pair and throwing them in shouldnt be much of a problem.
