Why wont the car stereo turn on?
-
ok so I've been doing a bit of audio work today with trying to get my sub to work, finally I got my sub to work with my amp and everything was going well. So I decided to attach another amp to the car with a different amp setting(10amp) in-turn this made me attach another fuse holder to my batt. I attached the fuse holder and wired the wire to the inside of my car where I attached it to the other amp. When I went to turn on my car my cd player wouldn't display anything but when the faceplate was taken off you could tell that it had power by the glow of the eject cd button on the inside. I came to one conclusion of it not getting enough power, because the only thing I had changed was the newly installed wire. I took off the new wire and went back into the car to try out the cd player again, but still nothing but I knew it was getting enough power because of the button glowing. Because of this my amp wont turn on any more because the remote wire isn't sending any power to it. my acc cords fuse is fine and so is the decks so I have no idea whats going on. sum it up: only thing I changed was taking the battery off and putting it back on now the deck wont start and the fuses are fine. any ideas?

Answer:
might want to pull the receiver back out and double check the remote wire for the deck. if the eject light it on, it should be getting 12v power and has a good enough ground, it just may not bet getting the signal from the ignition for it you turn on. If you want to do a quick test before pulling the deck back out the dash, you can get a voltmeter and put the pos to the remote connection directly on the amp and then connect the neg of the voltmeter to the ground directly on the amp (also make sure you car is either running or ignition is in running/acc position). The voltmeter should read only a few volts. if no volts, then time to pull the deck out and redo the remote wires. sometimes those wires come loose or if you used an in-line slice connector, it may not have cut all the way through the insulation of the wire.
